Stories:
Stories weave the fabric of who we are as people. They have transformative power to allow us to see ourselves and others through a different lens. They link us to our past and inspire hope for our futures. Whether it’s trying to manage ADHD and learn executive functioning skills, or re-building after trauma, the ability to re-author a story allows the discovery of new possibilities—the healing of old wounds and the prevention of new ones.
Professional Background:
I have always been a student of the human condition. I spent more than 20 years as a journalist, writing human interest and health and fitness pieces. Several years back, I decided to seek out a way to combine the value in stories with the healing of therapy. I completed the marriage and family counseling program at Sam Houston State University and graduated earning my master’s degree and license as an LPC Associate. I completed my internship at the Montgomery County Women’s Center where I was later hired and spent more than a year gaining valuable experience in trauma and neurodivergent populations.
Interests:
I am a mom of two totally cool kids and that keeps me happy and busy. In my free time, I enjoy books, music, art, and a healthy dose of exercise. I have completed more than a few Ironman races and have a deep love for human performance and enjoy helping athletes achieve their best in not only their physical performance, but in their mental game as well. I am a personal trainer, Pilates instructor and Spinning instructor and enjoy seeing people gain perspective through movement. I also enjoy tending my “zoo”. I have two Dobermans, two turtles, and a very large, grumpy bearded dragon all under one roof!

The overarching principal is to promote the healing that leads to a better quality of life, improvement in daily functioning and transformative growth that uses integrated therapeutic modalities such as mindfulness, meditation, coping skills, and psychoeducation buttressed by scientific research and best practices.
Personal Hobbies and Interests:
I am an early riser and I live a pretty simple life finding joy in the basics- early morning coffee with my spouse, quiet walks with my doggo, Butter, and impromptu family get togethers with love, laughter, games, story swapping, yummy food, music and hanging out. I can fluently read, write, and speak the Spanish language (I was a bilingual teacher for 7 years). In my alone time I enjoy reading, cooking, baking, and cats (not cooking/baking cat).
Our blended family consists of my three adult daughters and spouses (in Texas and Nebraska) and my hub’s grown children and their families (in Arizona and Illinois). I am fairly certain that my grandson, Elijah is the funniest and smartest person on Earth. My daily ritual includes lots of laughter, the occasional self-deprecating jabs, meditation, mindfulness, and some form of physical fitness. At a tender, young age I believed that by the time I reached 30 years of age I would know everything. Therefore, I am still in the pursuit of knowledge and intend to live long enough to do it all.
