My Purpose

Helping people has always been my mission. I was called, in my first career to assist people in locating satisfying work opportunities. After a decades long sabbatical during which I raised three children, I realized I still hear the call to help—more now, than ever. This time, I decided to put my considerable amount of life experience to use and embarked on my journey in counseling. In this season of my life, my purpose is to give my clients a safe place to explore their life problems—including personal, family, relationships, and career issues.

Education and Professional Alliances

I received a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University in May 2022. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (License # 89374) working under the supervision of Cortnee Wright, MA, LPC-S (License # 69033). I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the Texas Counseling Association. Most recently I interned with a private practice in College Station counseling college students as they adjust to university life.

Collaborating to Meet Goals

My theoretical orientation stresses that clients have free will to make choices in their behaviors, feelings, and attitudes. Additionally, I believe in the importance of working together. In our partnership, we will collaborate so that you learn skills and techniques which will help you meet your goals. My intention is to offer insight and to support your desire or need to change life patterns that are not working. I especially treasure the opportunity to help you find an improved sense of significance, learn to deal with feelings of discouragement in a healthy manner, and make positive contributions to others.

Change can be difficult. My goal is to provide an accepting, caring and compassionate environment in which you will feel comfortable exploring your problems and implementing beneficial changes in your life.

Children and Parents

Children develop difficulties from a variety of circumstances. Whether these problems are contextual, developmental, or internal, my goal is to develop a safe and secure child-centered relationship which emphasizes acceptance and empathy.

The parent-child relationship is the most important factor for a child’s well-being, therefore I enjoy helping parents learn to use child-centered techniques to effectively respond to their children’s emotional and behavioral needs.

Personal Interests

Spending time with my family tops my list--especially when we travel together. I love spending time in or near water; the beach, the pool and especially the beautiful rivers of Central Texas! I also enjoy playing golf.
