Robyn J. Fairchild, LMSW, LCSW, LPC

Licensed Master of Social Work, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Licensed Professional Counselor.

Professional Interests:

  • Individual Counseling
  • Family Counseling
  • Couples Counseling
  • Depressive Disorders
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Eating Disorders
  • Help with Parenting
  • Addiction Treatment
  • Women’s Issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Sexual abuse and trauma
  • Life transitions
  • Existential issues

Professional Background:

I received my Masters Degree in Social Work from The University of Texas in Austin in 1983. I interned/then worked at La Hacienda.

Treatment Center, for addiction, in Hunt, Tx. This was an amazing experience, where I was able to assist in people's healing from substance abuse amid the deer and the beautiful landscape.

From there I moved to Corpus Christy, where I was an in home Hospice therapist. This too, was an amazing experience in a very different way, helping people to die, hopefully with some sense of peace. For a young woman it was an expanding experience and, I believe, taught me to appreciate my health and every day of my life in a much deeper way. Then I moved to Houston where I was a staff therapist at Laurelwood Hospital, an inpatient mental health facility. Then, in 1988, after having my son I began my private practice here at Woodlands Family Institute and have been here for 32 years!

Clinical Focus:

I honor the inherent value and strength in people and their families I treat and operate from a model of wellness. I believe that people should be active in their own treatment and thus welcome and respect my client's input at all times. I see my role as being a co-creator with each person involved, to assist them in finding their own answers.

As one of my client's said, "to hold the flashlight" for them. As a result, my approach is collaborative and active, and I use many different modalities. Being eclectic, I draw from cognitive-behavioral models, solution based models, teaching models for parenting, and communication training for couples and families. I love working with mindfulness and meditation practices, with an emphasis on increasing self-compassion.

Interests:

I have so many things I love to explore and learn about, and so many people I truly care about! Nothing has been more important to me, or more impactful, than raising my son. He is 32 currently, and his story is powerful and inspiring, because he was diagnosed with ADHD as a small child. He struggled in every area of his life due to this, academically and with sports. However, because he was determined and discovered his passion and gifts, he has been able to thrive. He is currently a writer, editor and filmmaker and even made it to the Forbes 30 under 30 list!! Because of him, I can now add "film actress" to my resume and I have a new hobby!

Along with that, I adore my entire family and every opportunity I get to spend with them!

I've always been passionate about exercise. Having been a competitive swimmer as a child is where those roots were born! I got my black belt (along with my son) in Tae Kwon Do in my thirties, and since, enjoy yoga, pilates, cycling and weight lifting.

To recharge and relax I love creative things..coloring, jewelry making and handwork. I adore reading and constantly tell my client's about new books! I love almost every kind of music!

Professional Background:

I grew up in Florida and somehow knew in high school that I wanted to be a Psychologist. I am fortunate in fulfilling and living that dream. I completed my undergraduate work at Florida State University with a double major in Psychology and Sociology. I went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in School Psychology from the University of South Florida and then worked in the Sarasota County school system for three years as a School Psychologist. Finally, I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Mississippi. In that same doctoral program, I met my future husband, which made all that work worthwhile. I have worked as a staff Psychologist for four different psychiatric facilities in the Houston area. The inpatient populations included adolescents, adults, and children with a wide variety of issues and diagnoses. I have been in private practice at Woodlands Family Institute since 1996.

Treatment Philosophy:

My treatment approach is very active and engaged. I like to tailor the treatment to the needs of my client. This means that the sessions can have many different faces, ie. Existentially based, Client centered, Emotionally-focused, EMDR intensive, Gottman inspired, Solution focused, or Behavioral, etc… Oftentimes, I use a Cognitive-Behavioral model, which incorporates a teaching paradigm that helps clients with problem-solving strategies and effective coping skills for working through depression, fear, grief, anxieties, and many other life conflicts. Sessions emphasize the understanding and modification of patterns of thinking and behavior to enhance personal growth and insight as well as improving quality of life. I enjoy teaching effective communication with partners/spouses, children, parents, families, peers, and colleagues. I truly consider it an honor to be invited into a person’s life and to be able to join in their journey of growth in self and relationships.

Personal Interests:

Happily married for 40 years and counting…Steve and I have four children, all growing their own careers and families. I enjoy anything that has to do with my family being together, ie. board games, trips, and especially all the spirited discussions that evolve around the dinner table. Now that they all live in Texas, that allows us the time and opportunity to celebrate more times together. I spend lots of time with my grandchildren ( 6 and counting), which gives me great joy. Just seeing the world through their eyes is magic all over again. I love being an empty nester and pursuing classical piano, reading, music, movies, cooking, taking classes, going on photographic adventures with Steve, traveling the world, making new friends, and just being comfortable with old friends.

Bailee Muse, MA, LMFT

My name is Bailee, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges with honesty, compassion, and curiosity. I approach psychotherapy as a collaborative process, drawing on each person’s natural resilience and inner strengths to foster healing and meaningful change. My work is grounded in creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow.

Professional Interests:

  • Couples Counseling
  • Family Counseling
  • Individual Counseling
  • Teen Counseling
  • Relationship Issues
  • Parenting Support
  • Women’s Issues
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self-Esteem and Identity
  • Life Transitions
  • Anger Management
  • Stress Management

Professional Background:

My journey into psychotherapy began in 2019 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I then pursued a Master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling, completing my graduate studies in 2022. I chose the LMFT route because of its strong emphasis on a systemic and relational approach. This approach closely aligns with my conceptualization of people and the world. I see us as deeply interconnected, shaped by the relationships and systems that influence our lives. Since completing graduate school, I have obtained my license to practice as an LMFT. Additionally, I had the privilege of working at a nonprofit organization, where I supported children and families facing a wide range of challenges across various life stages and cultural backgrounds. This experience deepened my understanding of diverse client needs and strengthened my commitment to compassionate, individualized care.

Philosophy:

The essence of psychotherapy is rooted in one’s intrinsic desire for change, a deep, often unspoken drive that propels us toward healing and growth. Individuals and couples come to counseling when life feels disrupted, when old patterns no longer serve us, or when the weight of emotional pain becomes too much to bear alone. Psychotherapy offers a unique space to not only acknowledge that pain but also to explore the deeper layers of ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. These moments of vulnerability, though challenging, serve as powerful invitations to pause, reflect, and engage in the courageous work of transformation.

It is my belief that we all have natural resilience and inner strength that already exists within each of us. We possess untapped skills, whether it’s adaptability, courage, empathy, or problem-solving. These skills can be drawn upon to help us navigate the complexities of life. Therapy helps uncover and nurture these innate resources, empowering us to face difficult truths without being overwhelmed. It’s not about fixing what’s “broken,” but about discovering the capabilities and wisdom we have always carried, even if they’ve been hidden beneath pain or doubt.

Clinical Focus:

My approach to therapy is deeply client-centered and strengths-based, focusing on honoring each person’s unique journey and resilience. Grounded in attachment and experiential modalities, I help clients engage with their emotions and relational patterns in authentic, embodied ways. Alongside this foundation, I integrate a variety of evidence-based practices tailored to each client’s needs, including Solution-Focused Therapy to build on strengths and set achievable goals, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for reframing unhelpful thoughts, Family Systems Therapy to explore relational dynamics, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for deepening emotional bonds, and the Gottman Method for strengthening couples’ communication and intimacy. This holistic blend allows me to support individuals, couples, and families in navigating challenges and cultivating meaningful, healing connections.

Personal Interests:

Outside of sessions, I like to spend time with my family, friends, and pets. I enjoy trying new restaurants and recipes, and I stay active by going for walks or trying out different workout classes. I also crochet, which helps me unwind and take a break from the busy pace of life. These simple pleasures help me stay grounded and energized.

Who we are:

Welcome to Woodlands
Family Institute, P.C.

Woodlands Family Institute, P.C. has been serving families in The
Woodlands and surrounding areas for over 35 years. We offer
counseling and therapy for couples, families, and individuals as well
as specialized therapy services for addictions, problems with mood,
and family conflict resolution.

Woodlands Family Institute, P.C.

Our goal is to help families and individuals work through their struggles and become whole again. We do this by teaching intimacy skills, effective communication, practical parenting, and the power of forgiveness.

What We Do

Featured Services

We carefully match clients to the resources they need. Regardless of the problem, our therapists bring years of specialized experience in a wide range of therapy formats.

Featured Services

Family Counseling

Whether step-family, single-parent, multi-ethnic, or “traditional”, families today are increasingly complex and vulnerable to division, disharmony, and dysfunction. The bombardment of social media, technology, and shifting values can place stress on family structure.

Featured Services

Marriage Counseling

While couples counseling may be short-term, requiring only a few sessions to resolve a crisis or remove a blockage, more complex difficulties may need counseling for several months.

Featured Services

Individual Counseling

People often experience pervasive worry or transitory dips in mood, confidence, and motivation. Many people seek counseling for personal growth, relapse prevention, or emotional support through grief recovery.

Featured Services

Addiction Treatment

Whether it is dependence on substances (drugs or alcohol) or behaviors (gambling or sex), addiction involves compulsively seeking to use a substance or engage in a behavior regardless of consequences. Breaking an addiction is difficult, but not impossible.

Featured Services

Children's Therapy

Working with children facing tough times, our therapists often us play as a way to help children learn to self-regulate behavior and emotions, problem-solve, reduce anxieties and fears, and build self-esteem.

Featured Services

Trauma Therapy

Trauma can be as slight as a child’s humiliating moment at school, or it can be as horrific as rape, surviving a life-threatening car accident, or being exposed to combat. We know that it is safety, empathy, and trust that helps move a person past the crippling effects of trauma.

Featured Services

Parenting

To reduce conflict and promote childhood and adolescent development toward maturation, parents often find that working with a counselor to build and refine their parenting skills can frequently remedy current problems, as well as diminish the frequency and intensity of future ones.

Featured Services

Anger Management

it seems that anger has become more prevalent in our lives and culture. We take a focused, programmatic approach toward reducing the frequency of expressions of anger, providing coping strategies, and reducing the recovery time for anger occurrences.
